
Bitter cold temperatures and significant snowfall are in the forecast for much of Kansas. The snow is expected to begin in the overnight hours on Tuesday, continuing throughout most of the day.
The bullseye where the heaviest snow totals are expected will be east of Wichita, including 8+ inches in southeast Kansas. Most of the state is expected to receive at least two inches of snow, with totals growing more towards the southeast quadrant of the state. Show will be widespread and heavy at times.
Overnight lows for three nights in a row will be bitterly cold and below zero on Tuesday (-5°), Wednesday (-7°), and Thursday (-2°).
On Tuesday night, a gusty wind from the north is expected to send wind chills plummeting to -23°.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for 30 hours, beginning at midnight Tuesday.
Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to be back into the upper 40s by Sunday, much closer to normal.
