Just over a week from now the Wind Surge will play its first game in Wichita's new Riverfront Stadium. Mayor Brandon Whipple tells KNSS News he attended the recent WSU baseball game at Riverfront. He says it was a "amazing" to see the new stadium and "people getting out and about, and the city coming back to life". The first Surge game is scheduled for May 11.
At Tuesday's meeting, the Wichita City Council will consider its tourism budget, which is financed by a hotel room tax. Mayor Whipple says Visit Wichita did a good job saving money during the pandemic, and now they want to "make up for lost time" during the pandemic recovery.
Whipple commented during Mondays with the Mayor ... on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
