Diamond Baseball Holdings, LLC has purchased the team from CBI Investors, LP. DBH will soon have ownership of 13 minor league franchises across the county.

Prior approval of the sale by the city wasn't required but it did have to be approved by Major League Baseball.

Michael Burns, a representative of the new owner, says the Wind Surge would like to expand the number of non-baseball events that take place at Riverfront Stadium. But he says there's some work to be done first to learn more about the community. Burns is presently working at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City, and says that ballpark has more than 150 events in the baseball off-season.

On a related note, Wichita State baseball announced Tuesday that they'll host Oklahoma on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 6 p.m. at Riverfront Stadium.
