At Tuesday's meeting, the Wichita City Council will begin the process to search for a new City Manager. Robert Layton is retiring at the end of the year. Mayor Lily Wu tells KNSS News the fourth Tuesday of the month is usually a work shop with no formal business done. This special business meeting will proceed a work shop. Wu says a consultant will likely charge 30% of the city manager's salary, which would be about $70,000. Wu says the public is welcome to comment on the hiring process.
The mayor says the work shop after the business meeting will focus on the city's budget.
