If you're looking to replace your old gas-powered lawn equipment, you may be eligible for a rebate.

The Wichita City Council approved the city's 2024 lawn care rebate program. Eligible new electric or battery powered lawn equipment, such as mowers, leaf blowers, trimmers and edgers would receive a rebate amount of $100 or the price of purchase.

To get that rebate, applicants must provide proof that the existing combustion device was recycled.

The program's goal is to remove gas-powered equipment, which the city says is responsible for between 25 to 36 percent of local emissions.

Mulching blades would be eligible for a $30 rebate.

The program will begin March 1 and is scheduled to end on December 31, or when funds are exhausted.
