The Wichita City Council has approved a plan that would bring improvements to a north Wichita roadway.

The project on 29th Street North would reconstruct the roadway from Emporia to I-135, add dedicated turn lanes and would signalize the St. Francis intersection and the southbound on/off ramp to I-135.

The project design budget will cost the city $646,033. Once that work is complete, the council will discuss funding the construction, scheduled to begin in 2024. The project's total budget stands at $3.5 million.

The council also approved funding for bridge rehabilitation and repair in 2023. Projects include the First Street bridge and the John Mack bridge, both over the Arkansas River and the MacArthur Street bridge over the Big Ditch.
