Construction will begin this summer on a new hotel and office buildings near Riverfront Stadium.
The Wichita City Council unanimously approved the development agreement which will expand office and retail space between the stadium and the river, along McLean Boulevard.

The first building at the corner of Maple and McLean will house over 81 thousand square feet of retail and office space, along with a 283-stall parking garage. Immediately to its north, the second office and retail building will be around 30 thousand square feet. Meanwhile across McLean Boulevard, on the west bank of the Arkansas River, a 160-room hotel will be built.
Construction on the projects will begin in July and should be finished by July 2024. Originally this project was set to be complete by 2026. By accelerating the development timeframe, the city says it will increase revenues during the limited time the tax districts are open, reducing their financial risk.
The new plan is expected to generate $13 million in local sales tax and transient guest taxes.
