However, in a press release late Friday night, the county says that has been postponed as additional time is needed.

It's not clear what the issue is. The Wichita Eagle reported that Sedgwick County Manager Tom Stolz texted Commissioner Jim Howell a statement from Election Commissioner Angela Caudillo. It read quote: “Proofreading our results, I found some things that I just wasn’t 100 percent comfortable with and I wanted to make sure and get it right.”

The recount was scheduled to be completed and certified by 5 p.m. Saturday.

Voters on Aug. 2 rejected a ballot measure that would have removed protections for abortion rights from the Kansas Constitution. It failed by 18 percentage points or 165-thousand votes statewide.

The county says more information will be forthcoming on rescheduling.
