A line of thunderstorms travelled across central Kansas from west to east Sunday night. The storms brought high wind, hail, lightning, heavy rain, and three confirmed tornadoes.
Harvey County Emergency Management and its emergency partners are assessing significant storm damage across the county. Burrton residents were asked to shelter in place due to a possible chemical leak at a damaged oil facility west of the city. The alert was issued just after 9 p.m. The order was lifted just after 11 p.m.
The City of Russell reported power outages and damage as the super cell moved through. Wind was clocked at 80 miles per hour at Russell, and 70 miles per hour in Reno and Kingman counties.
Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued for several counties across central Kansas, including Sedgwick. Hail up to ping pong size was reported. There have been no reports of any injuries.
