Wesley Medical Center will begin an approximately two-year construction project to replace its aging public parking garage with a new and larger structure on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, with the demolition of the existing structure at Hillside and Murdock streets. New parking requirements for patient, visitors and colleagues will go into effect on Jan. 5.
In its place, a new, $65 million parking garage will offer a total of 1,359 parking spaces, plus 20 motorcycle-specific parking spaces – an increase of 466 parking spaces from the current garage. The construction project also will see the addition of a beautiful new atrium lobby and main hospital entrance that will provide easy access from both the parking garage and from its main entrance from Hillside Street.
“For some time, we’ve known that our increasing patient volume was going to require additional parking on our Hillside campus,” said Bill Voloch, president and CEO of Wesley Healthcare. “This project will give us the capacity needed to meet the parking needs of patients and families for many years to come.”
While the project will ultimately provide many benefits, the construction process will represent a significant disruption in traffic flow and parking on the Hillside campus. Patients and visitors should be aware that, beginning Jan. 6:
The hospital’s Main Entrance, located on Hillside near the existing parking garage, will be closed for the duration of construction.
Murdock will be closed just east of the entrance to the Wesley Birth Care Suites. The Birth Care Suites will remain open throughout the construction process.
Murdock will be closed just west of Rutan, allowing access to the Wesley Medical Arts Tower and the adjacent Associates in Women’s Health offices from the east.
All patients and visitors will be asked to park in what is currently Wesley’s employee parking garage, located on Rutan Street midway between Central and Murdock.
This includes patients visiting the Wesley Medical Arts Tower at 3243 E.
Murdock.
Additional patient parking also will be available in the parking lot on the northwest corner of Central and Rutan.
All patients and visitors will enter the hospital through the hospital entrance nearest the Central and Rutan parking lot. The patient admissions department is located to the right of that entrance, and an information desk just inside will help in locating patients and navigating the hospital.
Patients and visitors to Wesley Medical Center will also find parking information and instructions on its website at wesleymc.com prior to the start of construction.
