The Wichita City Council has extended the pause on any demolition plans for the Crown Uptown Theatre.
The delay, extended to January 23, 2027 or up to 180 days, will allow the city and interested parties more time to explore additional options.
Brock Booker said property rights end where coercion of public process begins.
The theatre's owner submitted for a wrecking permit back in July. However, the Crown Uptown is on the city’s undesignated historic resource list, which triggered an automatic one-month hold before the wrecking permit could have been granted.
