Economic growth continues for Sedgwick County and the region.

County Commissioners received their annual update from the Greater Wichita Partnership, the economic development organization for the greater Wichita region. President Jeff Fluhr reports in the last 10 years, over $3.5 billion have been invested in our region, over 14 thousand jobs created, with a payroll of $728 million.

There is more on the horizon. Fluhr says over $5.3 billion dollars in potential projects are in the pipeline, which could create over 16 thousand new jobs with a payroll of $924 million.

Defense and aerospace maintain a large footprint on the region, with growing opportunities in healthcare, advanced manufacturing and cybersecurity.

With the growth, also comes the growing need for additional housing inventory, child care opportunities and improvements to roads, water and sewer infrastructure.
