A business that's been part of Wichita for more than a century is making a big change; J.P. Weigand & Sons plans to sell its residential real estate division to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty.
“The alignment of our values and business philosophies makes this partnership a natural fit, and I am confident in the opportunities it will create for our agents and staff,” Nes Weigand, chairman of the Weigand board, said in a news release.
J.P. Weigand & Sons will maintain a presence in Wichita, focusing on its commercial and auction services.
“This decision to evolve and focus our resources on the commercial market services did not come lightly,” Kevin Dreiling, Weigand president, said. “After careful consideration, we felt that we could best serve our employees and associates with a refocused attention on the commercial markets moving forward.”
He said the company will continue to grow its services, such as leasing, tenant representation, site selection, investment sales, auctions, consulting, and development services.
“Our objective is to be the market leader in those sectors with continued guidance from the J.P. Weigand principles of integrity and excellence,” Dreiling said.
