An 18-year-old man died in a shooting in the town of Sedgwick; the gunfire was reported a little after midnight on Monday.
The Sedgwick County sheriff’s office confirmed that the suspected shooter, a 15-year-old boy, is in custody. The sheriff’s office also specified “there is no known ongoing threat to the public at this time.”
According to dispatchers, emergency crews were called to the 100 block of S. Commercial after midnight. When first responders arrived, they found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was rushed to the hospital in extremely critical condition, and died from his injuries within about a half-hour.
The 15-year-old called 9-1-1, notifying dispatchers that he was the suspect in the shooting; he'd run from the scene, but was taken into custody nearby.
Investigators believe it was a domestic argument that led to the shooting inside a home.
