The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the woman who died in a fiery car crash Monday evening; the victim was 69-year-old Donna O'Reilly of Wichita.
The Sedgwick County sheriff's office received a call at about 8:00 p.m., concerning a fire in a wooded area near the intersection of 55th Street South & West Street. Witnesses report seeing smoke coming from the scene.
The Wichita Fire Department arrived on the scene and crews realized there was a car in the wooded area.
Initial investigative reports state that O'Reilly's husband, who was driving, suffered a medical condition. Their vehicle left the roadway and ended up in the wooded area. During the crash, the car sustained enough damage that it caught on fire.
The 73-year-old husband escaped the car and was hospitalized.
