The Wichita City Council got a look at the city's fourth quarter finances.
In the unprecedented year of 2020, the city's general fund revenue budget was reduced by $13.1 million but ended up performing well, with a $4.4 million profit. Those adjustments, along with additional sales tax revenue and CARES Act funding from the federal government helped as well.
The future outlook isn't as rosy. While 2021's budget is forecast to be balanced, the city projects deficits from 2022 to 2024.
The city's Golf fund performed well, with a $523 thousand profit. That was attributed in part to much higher play in the third and fourth quarter of last year. It's unclear if that trend will continue into 2021.
