Daycare availability in Wichita is expected to improve, thanks to a change made Tuesday by the city council.
The zoning code change will increase the number of children that can be watched at a home day care facility from 10 to 12. This move will align city code up to current Kansas Department of Health and Environment regulations.
John Rolfe, President and CEO of the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce, said expanding availability to affordable, safe daycare is an important issue for local families.
The city estimates that there are nearly 300 home day cares in Wichita.
