Fire breaks out at northwest Wichita transfer station

Wichita Fire crews battled a large fire at a solid waste transfer station in northwest Wichita Saturday evening.

The fire was reported around 6 o’clock, in the 4300 block of W. 37th Street North, near K-96 and West Street.

Crews arrived to find fire coming from the building on the property. They also discovered that water hydrants in the area were out of service and requested two additional tenders to assist in firefighting efforts.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire and a damage estimate has not been determined.
