A fire Saturday evening caused extensive damage to a home in south Wichita.
It happened around 6:10 p.m. in the 4100 block of S. Wichita Street.
Wichita Fire crews found heavy smoke coming from the house when they arrived on the scene. Fire officials say a birthday party was being held at the home but everyone was able to get out safely.
A third of the home and the garage was destroyed, with damage likely in excess of $100,000. The cause of the blaze has not been determined.
