Sedgwick County Commission Chair Ryan Baty signed a declaration for a local state of disaster Monday allowing the County to tap into state resources. That means helicopters from the Kansas National Guard will bring water to dump on the fire sometime today. Baty says the fire can be "an incredibly dangerous situation," such as during a wind shift. County firefighters can only get close enough to contain the blaze, and they need the choppers to extinguish the fire.
