Wichitans will celebrate Independence Day at the 10th annual "Red, White & BOOM!", Wichita’s largest Fourth of July fireworks celebration, on Saturday, July 4, along the Arkansas River downtown.
"Red, White & Boom!" is co-sponsored by KNSS and Audacy.
The free event will feature food vendors, family-friendly festivities, and a fireworks display choreographed to music.
Festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. on the Hyatt Lawn east of Maple & McLean Blvd., where people can enjoy food from local vendors. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets, claim a spot along the east bank of the river for the best views of the fireworks.
The fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m., or immediately following the Wichita Wind Surge baseball game at Equity Bank Park. Fireworks will be launched from the west bank of the Arkansas River. Guests may enhance their experience by downloading the Pyrocast app and entering show code APG8 to synchronize the music soundtrack with the fireworks display.
This year’s celebration also serves as a community tribute to America’s 250th anniversary, its semiquincentennial.
Road closures on McLean Boulevard between Douglas and Maple will begin at 8:00 a.m. on July 4, and are expected to re-open around 2:00 a.m. on July 5, or as soon as it's safe to do so. Attendees are encouraged to plan ahead, arrive early, and review available parking options before traveling downtown.
