Former Wichita Northwest football player dies in Missouri

A former football player for Wichita Northwest died in Springfield, Mo.

According to Missouri State University, 21-year-old Todric McGee died early Saturday morning.

Springfield Police responded to a call regarding a person suffering from an accidental gunshot wound Friday. McGee was transported to a Springfield hospital, but he died from his injuries.

McGee was entering his fifth season with the Missouri State football program. He was the Bears’ starting safety in 2023 and 2024 and earned all-conference honors in 2023.

Grief counseling services are available for staff and student-athletes at the university.
