The Wichita Fire Department responded to a hazmat situation early Thursday morning in the 1800 block of W. 2nd Street at Apex Engineering International, several blocks west of 2nd & Seneca.
Officials say it's not a spill -- someone put the wrong chemical in a tank.
“There are so many different types of challenges in hazard material situations — from the mixture, vapor, release. Anything like that can be very dangerous,” said Battalion Chief Jose Ocadiz, from the Wichita Fire Department.
The building was evacuated; Ocadiz said they're working with the incident commander and safety coordinator at the plant.
The fire department said the situation does not pose dangers to the neighborhood, and is all contained inside the building.
