Strong winds caused power outages east of Wichita on Tuesday. Power was off for just over 1,400 customers near Andover, spreading from Webb Road along 21st to Andover Road.
Also, on Tuesday afternoon, a wind gust of 84 m.p.h. was recorded at the Garden City airport.
Officials say hurricane force winds ripped roofs off of buildings. Trees and power poles were snapped and semis were tipped over.
