Two ramp closures at the I-135/U.S. 54 interchange in Wichita are scheduled on Monday, April 8, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.
The first is a short-term closure on the exit ramp from northbound I-135 to westbound U.S. 54. It will be closed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to remove the stripe on the left lane of the ramp over Hydraulic Avenue. For a detour, motorists could continue northbound on I-135 to exit 6B at E 2nd. Street N, then turn left onto southbound I-135 to reach the west Kellogg exit 6A.
The first ramp work will allow construction workers to shift traffic over to prepare to for a second ramp closure from southbound I-135 to westbound U.S. 54. This closure will begin once the first ramp is open.
The southbound I-135 to westbound U.S. 54 ramp closure is part of the four bridge rehabilitation projects scheduled this year at the I-135/U.S. 54 interchange. The bridge work will take place consecutively. This first project, southbound I-135 to westbound U.S. 54 ramp closure is set to conclude in late May.
