
Sedgwick County Commission Chair Ryan Baty tells KNSS News the answer is 'yes.' He points out that the Speaker of the House, the Senate President, and the Senate Majority leader are from south central Kansas. Baty says there was a time when it seemed that, "a lot of the dollars and investment went to northeast Kansas," but he thinks that has changed.
At Wednesday's meeting, the Sedgwick County Commission will focus attention on people with disabilities. Commission Chair Ryan Baty tells KNSS News the board will issue a proclamation designated Developmental Disabilities Month. He says there are abut 9,000 individuals in the county classified as intellectually disabled.
Baty tells KNSS News the county needs guidance from the Kansas Legislature, on what to do with "cremains..." the unclaimed cremated remains of 400 people.
