Kansas lawmakers voted to override one of Governor Laura Kelly’s budget vetoes, advancing a provision giving state legislators a 4.4% pay raise.
Gov. Kelly vetoed 31 provisions in the state budget bill, including the 4.4% increase for lawmakers, which she criticized while pointing to a 93% pay increase legislators received two years ago.
The same budget provision includes a 1% raise for other state employees; Gov. Kelly had proposed a 2.5% raise for those workers instead.
