An Overland Park man is dead after he was hit by a semi in Harvey County Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened just after 3:20 p.m., in the northbound lanes of I-135 at milepost 24. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a vehicle was parked on the right shoulder of the interstate with a man standing in front of it.

Due to heavy traffic, the semi was unable to move over to the left lane to pass the stationary vehicle. As the semi drove by, the man ran into the roadway and was struck by the front right corner of the semi.

Richard Hall, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene.
