It’s mosquito season in Kansas, and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a warning that the entire state is at high risk for West Nile Virus, a disease commonly carried by mosquitoes.
The KDHE recommends using bug spray, part of its “three D’s” for combating the West Nile virus:
- Drain
Drain standing water, where mosquitoes live and breed.
- Dress
Dress in long sleeves and pants, when the weather allows.
- Deet
Use mosquito repellent labeled with ‘deet’.
