City and State officials met in Wichita on Thursday to discuss the crash of American Airlines flight 5342, and a military helicopter.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly and Wichita Mayor Lily Wu then held a joint news conference, to relay what information they did know at this point. Governor Kelly said she has been in communication with federal officials about when the victims will be officially identified.
"They are waiting to notify all the families, and some of the individuals on that plane are from overseas, which is partly why there is a delay in contacting those families," Kelly said.
She indicated that it is likely that officials will announce the names of the victims at some point on Friday.
