Preliminary estimates reported by the Kansas Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics show a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.6 percent in November for the state. This was a decrease from 3.9 percent in October and a decrease from 4.7 percent in November 2020. Estimates indicate total Kansas nonfarm jobs increased by 27-hundred from October.
The Wichita area recorded a one-percent drop in the jobless rate to 3.5 percent in November, down from 4.5 percent in October, and 5.9 percent a year ago. Just over 303-thousand people were employed in November in the area including Sedgwick, Sumner, Butler, Harvey, and Kingman counties.
