Kansas ranks high on distracted driving list

December is the deadliest month of the year when it comes to distracted driving. With winter storms hitting across the country and holiday travel booked, it’s more important than ever for drivers to be cautious on the road and put away their phones.

Research from WhistleOut uncovers which states have the highest number of fatal accidents due to distracted driving, and Kansas is listed in the top five.

The most likely age group to be involved in a fatal distracted driving crash year-round is drivers ages 45-64, but every 12th crash involves a teen driver

Male drivers account for 71% of all drivers involved in fatal distracted driving incidents.

Rhode Island is the only state with no fatal distracted driving crashes in our newest report.

Safety officials warn that while we love our cell phones and the ability to stay connected, it’s important to remember that our lives, and the lives of others, are more important than checking a text while on the road.
