Kansas unemployment rate up slightly last month

Preliminary estimates reported by the Kansas Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics show a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.3% in August. This is an increase from 3.2% in July and an increase from 2.6% in August 2023. Seasonally adjusted job estimates for Kansas indicate total nonfarm payroll employment was unchanged from July.

For the Wichita MSA, the unemployment rate was 4.1 percent in August ... down from 4.7 percent in July, with more than 324,000 employed. The Wichita M-S-A includes Sedgwick , Butler, Kingman, Harvey, and Sumner counties.
