Last week the Kansas Department of Health and Environment confirmed a cast of measles in southwestern Kansas. According to the KDHE, there are now six cases of measles located in Grant, Stevens, and Morton Counties. All six cases involve unvaccinated individuals under the age of 18.

Measles is a respiratory disease caused by a virus that spreads through the air via breathing, coughing, or sneezing. It can be transmitted from an infected person to others for four days before and four days after the rash appears.

The Sedgwick County Health Department is holding a measles vaccination clinic on Saturday, March 22nd from 10 am-3pm at the Health Department’s clinic at 2716 W. Central.
