
The Kansas Department of Transportation will close both northbound and southbound I-135 in Wichita for construction Saturday, May 10, through Sunday, May 11. Beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday, southbound I-135 will be closed from the K-254 interchange to just past the K-96 interchange. The I-235 ramps to southbound I-135, including the newly constructed I-235 connector ramp to K-96, and the ramp from westbound K-96 to southbound I-135 will also be closed. Southbound I-135 is expected to reopen by midday Sunday, May 11.

Northbound I-135 will be closed at the K-96/I-135 interchange. Traffic will be diverted to eastbound K-96, where drivers will exit at Hillside Street and use westbound K-96 to return to northbound I-135. Northbound I-135 is anticipated to reopen by Sunday afternoon, May 11. KDOT says Motorists should allow extra travel time, follow posted detour signs, and use alternate routes.
