In E. Wichita, Kellogg between Oliver and Rock Road was closed in both directions after a suspicious item was discovered in the area; this all started just after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday. Kellogg was re-opened to traffic after 1:30 p.m.

The police department posted on X about the ongoing situation, saying some side streets would be shut down.

A suitcase was reportedly found at the Trust Women Clinic east of Kellogg & Oliver; the clinic is an abortion provider. Last year on this day, Aug. 2, Kansas voters resoundingly voted to protect abortion rights.

The Wichita Police Department’s bomb squad is reportedly at the scene evaluating the device.

The clinic has issued the following statement:
"This morning, a suspicious package was found near our clinic. We followed our standard protocol and called the police. They are currently investigating the situation. Staff had not arrived, and no patients were scheduled for today, so we have had a minimal disruption in services.”
