Wichita police have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection to a shooting that critically injured another 15-year-old.
After 9 p.m. Sunday, someone called 911 reporting shots were being fired in the area of 29th Street South & Everett (east of Meridian). Before police officers arrived, another person called 911 saying there was a victim.
Officers found a boy who had two gunshot wounds to his abdominal area.
“We’re being told that three friends were hanging out together,” said police Sgt. Michael Russell. “One friend left, and about seven minutes after he left, they heard gunshots. They came outside and found their friend.”
Police continued to look for the actual shooting scene and the motive. Officers went to homes in the area to find any possible witnesses and/or security video.
The victim was hospitalized, undergoing surgery, emerging in stable condition.
