Lawrence Police arrested a man Saturday morning who confessed to killing his grandmother.
Officers were dispatched before 2 a.m. to a home near Clinton Parkway and Crestline Drive, in the southern part of the city.
Officers arrived and found a 70-year-old woman unresponsive in bed. She had been strangled was declared dead. Officers arrested 25-year-old Marcus Cassella without incident.
The suspect’s 24-year-old brother was found unharmed in a bedroom with the door shut.
After being interviewed by police, Cassella was transported to the Douglas County Correctional Facility and booked on suspicion of First-Degree Murder.
