A Wichita man has been found guilty of killing a pregnant woman in a crash while he was running from police.
Javan Ervin, 39, was convicted Thursday of first-degree murder in the death of Samantha Russell, 22, on July 6, 2021.
The jury also found him guilty of aggravated battery, two counts on felony flee and elude, criminal possession of a weapon, failure to stop at an accident resulting in death, and driving while suspended.
A mistrial was declared in Ervin's first trial in April after a juror told the Judge that another juror talked about media coverage in the jury room. The retrial began Monday.
Sentencing for Ervin was set for July 26.
