At about 7:00 a.m. Thursday, Sedgwick County Emergency Communications received a call reporting a shooting at Fairmount Park in the 1600 block of N. Yale (east of 17th & Hillside). A resident had dialed 911 to report finding an injured man they believed had sustained a gunshot wound.
Wichita Police, Wichita State University Police, Wichita Fire, and Sedgwick County EMS crews arrived at the scene and discovered 54-year-old Timothy Dukes of Wichita lying on the northeast corner of 15th & Vassar in Fairmount Park. Dukes had an injury and was pronounced dead on-site by Sedgwick County EMS.

Investigators believe Dukes' passing is believed to have resulted from a medical emergency. The Wichita Police Department examines every unattended death within the City of Wichita in conjunction with the Sedgwick County Coroner’s office.
Though the initial call suggested a possible shooting, the investigation has established the injury was not gunshot-related.
