Wichita Mayor Lily Wu served breakfast to unhoused people Monday at the city's new winter homeless shelter on north Main. Wu tells KNSS News she wanted to spend the night at the shelter but was told she is not allowed because she is not unhoused. The mayor says she is hoping the people staying at the shelter "feel valued", and that the community is ready to help them find independent housing.
KNSS News asked Wichita Mayor Lily Wu for a comment on the passing of former President Jimmy Carter. She called Carter an "exceptional servant leader", and Carter set an example of what "true leadership looks like".
Wu commented during Mondays with the Mayor on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
