Meitzner notices worker shortages

Sedgwick County Commission Chair Pete Meitzner spent part of the holiday weekend in Denver. He tells KNSS News he noticed many 'help wanted' signs during his trip, at restaurants, gas stations, and retail shops. He says there is a $15 an hour minimum wage in Denver, and they still can't hire enough people.

Meitzner says there is a hiring and retention problem for county government, which has a shortage of 911 dispatchers, a job that handles a variety of calls every hour. Meitzner says wages are being addressed in the county budget for the coming year.

Pete Meitzner commented during his weekly chat with Steve and Ted in the Morning on KNSS.
