Sedgwick County Commission Chair Pete Meitzner tells KNSS News every vote counts. The county commission acts as a canvassing board to ensure the accuracy of local elections. On November 7, Haysville voters decided against a sales tax increase by one vote, out of more than 800 cast. Meitzner says three races tied and were decided by pulling names from a hat.
Seven people submitted mail-in ballots and then showed up to vote on election day. Those people filled out provisional ballots and the canvas board decided which ballot to accept.
Meitzner commented during his weekly appearance on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
