Swatting calls targeted schools in Salina, Lawrence, Manhattan Garden City, Wellington, Russell, El Dorado and North High in Wichita.

The Wichita Police Department said in a statement that they take these calls very seriously. The department checked the school and found no threat to students or staff.

“Swatting calls are alarmist and detrimental to the community by tying up public safety resources,” Wichita Police Officer Chad Ditch said. “Shootings are a serious problem in our society, and we will work with other agencies to try to determine the cause of these false reports.”

The KBI is now working with local and state officials to find out who is responsible for making the calls.
