Wichita Police said one of their off-duty officers was arrested in Newton early Saturday morning.
Officer Louis Hebert was arrested and booked into the Harvey County Jail on charges of DUI and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
Hebert has been employed by WPD for two years and was assigned to the Field Services division. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a criminal and internal investigation.
The Newton Police Department is investigating the case.
