UPDATE: An overnight shooting in Old Town left a 19-year-old Wichita woman hospitalized with critical, life-threatening injuries.

It happened around 11:10 Saturday night, at 1st and Washington Street. Wichita Police say the victim broke up a fight between a friend of hers and the female suspect in a parking lot. After the altercation, the victim was driving away from the scene when the suspect, 19-year-old La’Niha Banks of Wichita, fired shots, striking the victim twice in the upper body.

Police say another vehicle was struck by gunfire, fled the scene and crashed into a pole nearby. The driver was not struck and was not injured in the crash.

La’Niha Banks left the scene in a red 2014 Buick Lacrosse with a paper 60-day tag. Detectives are actively working to locate her. She is wanted on one count of aggravated battery, five counts of Aggravated Assault, two counts of discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and one count of attempted murder. Banks is considered armed and dangerous.

If you know her whereabouts or have information about the case, you’re asked to call Wichita Police.
