A Hutchinson man is dead following a crash near the Sedgwick/Reno County line Thursday morning before 10 a.m. on K-96, between Haven and Mount Hope.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says both vehicles were eastbound on K-96. The semi slowed down to make a right turn, but the driver of the pickup failed to slow down and struck the rear of the trailer of the semi.
A passenger inside the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. He is identified as 43-year-old Brian Lee Garza of Hutchinson. The driver of the pickup was hospitalized. The semi-driver refused treatment.
