A Wichita woman is dead following a small plane crash in New Mexico on Friday.
New Mexico State Police identified the victim as 63-year-old Deborah Rhinesmith. A second victim remains in the hospital in critical condition..
The plane took off from Wichita's Eisenhower National Airport around 9:20 a.m. Records show the plane was on its way to Arizona and was scheduled for a fuel stop in New Mexico. It crashed around 11:45 a.m. during an attempted emergency landing on a golf course.
The Albuquerque Fire Department arrived and found the two victims stuck inside. While the aircraft did not catch fire, it did have significant damage.
Eisenhower Airport officials are coordinating with authorities and first responders. The NTSB and FAA will investigate.
