One person was killed when a tornado touched down in Westmoreland, northeast of Manhattan. Three other people were reported with minor injuries.
Pottawatomie County officials said the tornado hit the city at 4:41 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The damage was said to be extensive and multiple structures were impacted.
Authorities closed Highway 99 between Main and Campbell. Multiple first responders have arrived in Westmoreland to conduct grid searches and to catalog damage in their search for people who may have been injured.
