One person died and two others suffered serious injuries in a crash Saturday morning in Dodge City.

It happened around 5:20 a.m., on U.S. 400 near the Cargill Meat factory on the east side of Dodge City. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Mike Hernandez, 24 of Dodge City, was heading west when his vehicle crossed the center line, striking another vehicle. A semi-truck then hit both of those vehicles.

Hernandez was taken to a hospital but later died. A 24-year-old woman who was a passenger had serious injuries. The driver of the second vehicle, a 22-year-old man from Dodge City, also had serious injuries. The semi-truck driver and a passenger are expected to be OK.

The highway was closed for several hours as the investigation and clean-up process took place. The Sheriff's Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol are investigating the crash.
